Diego Martinez, MD, MBA, FAIHQ, LHRM, CHC, joined the organization as Chief of Operations (COO) in December 2012. Dr. Martinez has worked with one of the largest and “Best Practice” Community Health Centers (CHC) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in Miami, Florida since August 2009. In addition to being responsible for the operations of the CHC, he also managed their large Managed Care program, pharmacy, Information Technology (IT), dental, laboratory and communications.
Dr. Martinez is a graduate of the Universidad Central Del Este in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic where he received his medical doctorate in 1985. He is also a graduate of the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, Arizona where he received a Master Business Administration/Health Care Management in 2005. Dr. Martinez is not a practicing physician and has over 19 years of experience working with various FQHCs, including 28 years’ experience in board-certified Total Quality Management. Moreover, 12 years of experience in Managed Care and Risk Management, and 10 years in Healthcare Compliance.
Dr. Martinez holds various certifications and licenses including a Fellow and Board certified in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, a Healthcare Compliance certification, and a license as a Healthcare Risk Manager. Dr. Martinez’s expertise in program development, implementation and evaluation together with planning and implementation of resource development and management strategies will insure long-term organizational viability; his skills are much welcomed and will be instrumental in providing mission and value-based leadership, essentials for optimizing operational effectiveness and achieving a strategic position for Omni Family Health.
Dr. Martinez poses strong leadership, management and communication skills. When asked how he will approach his work at OFH, he stated that “he prefers to create an environment where people can make mistakes and learn from them, fostering growth”.
